Scope

Open Contexts is a free, open-source macOS window switcher maintained by zshnb and contributors. These terms apply to the official website and project-provided downloads. By using the website, you agree to these terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Open-source license

The software is licensed under the Apache License 2.0. You may use, modify, and redistribute it subject to that license, including its notice and attribution requirements. These website terms do not replace, narrow, or revoke rights granted by the software license. If the terms conflict with that license regarding the software, the license controls.

Third-party components retain their own licenses. Project and third-party names and logos remain subject to their owners’ rights; the software license does not grant trademark rights.

Using the app and website

Use the app and website lawfully and only on systems you are authorized to control. Do not use the website to distribute malicious material, attempt unauthorized access, or disrupt other visitors’ access.

The app requires macOS 13 or later and Accessibility permission for window switching. Grant permissions only if you are comfortable with the behavior described in our Privacy Policy. You can stop using the app or revoke its permission at any time. You are responsible for your device configuration and backups, including saved groups.

Availability, updates, and support

The project currently offers the app at no charge, without an account or subscription. Features, supported systems, downloads, and website content may change. We do not guarantee uninterrupted website access, compatibility with every app or macOS release, ongoing updates, or a particular support response time. Updates remain subject to their accompanying open-source licenses.

Third-party services

Downloads, update hosting, source code, and issue tracking use GitHub. The website also uses Cloudflare, Google Analytics, and Google Fonts as described in the Privacy Policy. External websites and services have their own terms and policies. Open Contexts is independent and is not affiliated with Contexts, AltTab, or Better Window Switcher.

Warranty and liability

The software is supplied as is, without warranties or conditions, as set out in the Apache License 2.0. To the extent permitted by applicable law, website content is also provided without guarantees of accuracy, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose.

The software license sets out the contributors’ limitation of liability. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the website’s maintainers and contributors are not liable for losses arising from use of, or inability to use, the website. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or mandatory rights that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.

Changes and contact

Revised website terms will be published on this page with an updated date and apply prospectively. They do not revoke rights already granted under an open-source license. For questions, contact the maintainer through the GitHub issue tracker. Please keep sensitive information out of public issues.
